An approach to testimonies about Sicilian civic elites in the Verrines: magistrates, members of the Council and principes  

In this article we offer a compilation of testimonies about the people cited by Cicero in the Verrines who can be identified as members of the elites of the Sicilian communities, more precisely magistrates, members of the Council and people defined as principes. We will also think about the criteria that can be used to identify such civic oligarchs as members of the elites of their respective communities. Finally, we analyze some of the most important passages about such people.
