The edition by Mariotti of the remaining initial chapters of the Ars of Marius Victorinus, dedicated to orthography, represents the beginning of a revival of interest in Latin grammarians, and shows various innovative elements, such as the presence of an extensive introduction and of an analytical commentary, which allows a better understanding of the work. The focus on scholastic practices should also be noted, which emerges from the constant references to a dialogue with the pupils, especially in relation to the manuscript revision exercises. Mariotti’s edition thus represents a model for editions of grammatical texts produced in the following years.
