The paper focuses on the importance of archaeological sources, in particular instrumentum domesticum, for the study of ancient economy. A good example is the research of group CEIPAC on the production and trade of Betican oil in the Roman imperial period, based mainly on epigraphy – both stamps and painted inscriptions – on Dressel 20 amphorae.
