The present contribution is an attempt to return to Lucretius, rethinking and extending his concept of homology between res and uerba through a detailed comparison between language and chemistry. Just as everything in language is made of letters, everything in matter is made of atoms. Letters, words, phrases, chapters of a book, books, book series and libraries can be compared to atoms, molecules, supramolecular systems, cells, organ systems, apparata, and men. This last analogy is particularly fitting because as a library is the most complex thing in terms of language, a man is the most complex representative from the point of view of matter. It enables us to understand the miracle of the human body, where an incredibly large number of atoms are assembled in an unbelievable orderly way so as to generate all the wondrous faculties of man.
