In Seneca’s Troades (vv. 615-617), the Ulysses’ description of Andromache’s gestures and movements constitutes a pantomime module, which has a dramaturgical function. In fact, the physical signs of the passions, among which fear is dominant, betray the heroine, uncovering her desperate attempt to make Astyanax appear dead. The script of the episode, built around the power of emotions and bodily symptoms, therefore has a strong theatrical value.
