The article describes the surviving materials relating to Giuseppe Albini’s studies on Petrarch. It focuses on some letters exchanged with philologists such as Francesco Novati and Arnaldo Foresti, which reveal Albini’s interest in the Bucolicum carmen, a work that he would have liked to publish as part of the “Edizione Nazionale delle opere di Francesco Petrarca”. It also analyses documents that are useful for contextualizing the studies published by Albini, including his translation of the Egloga 1, and for better understanding his exaltation of the great value of Petrarch’s Latin poetry.
