The essay traces the correspondence between two scholars, Giuseppe Albini and Angelo Solerti, exchanged between 1891 and 1903. The correspondence, preserved between Bologna (“Ezio Raimondi” Humanistic Library, Albini Collection) and Bergamo (Civic Library “Angelo Mai”, Solerti Collection), offers a small glimpse into the working methods of ‘philologists’, both classical and modern, at the end of the 19th century and the dawn of the 20th century, after the years of Scuola Storica.
